You read that right, Tommy Kudoba Fitness personal training has moved locations to its own private studio gym located in Hespeler (Cambridge).
Now having a new gym doesn’t just mean a new place to train, it means better personal training for all of you.
Lots of brand new equipment to ensure we can train as effectively as possible. Exclusively private 1-on-1 personal training sessions, meaning no more crowds or distractions. Your own speaker or tv to listen to whatever you want. Post workout protein options. Maximum scheduling flexibility.
Ultimately, this private gym allows me to provide the best personal training service possible, delivering the greatest results for you, all in the heart of Hespeler.
Each individual I work with starts with a comprehensive assessment of their joints (the foundation of all movement). We look at passive and active ranges of motion, as well as tissue quality, to determine what condition the body is in. This very specific information is then used, along with the individual’s goals, to determine unique programming for them. No guess work, rather, training specifically designed for individuals to make their body look, move, and feel good, all while working towards their goals.
An assessment takes roughly 2 hours and serves as an initial opportunity to get to know each other. I explain some of the “why” behind the training, and you get to tell me more about yourself, your training history, and your future goals. We end the session with basic but important training in the form of a daily mobility practice that is assigned as daily homework.
About a week later the programming is complete and the real fun begins. Depending on personal preference and circumstance, people work with me anywhere between 1-3 times per week. Regardless of how often you choose to personal train with me, I provide programming for you to complete on your own each week as well. Programming is updated every 10 weeks to keep things fresh and exciting, showing you different exercises, set ups, or ways to train, while still maintaining common themes to ensure progress is made.
Although progress can happen much sooner, I like to tell people to give training an entire year (ideally longer), as shifting your mindset to simply ‘being someone who will train for the rest of their lives’, will yield much greater and longer lasting results than someone who sees a finish line or an end to the training (such as when they reach a certain weight, etc.). While maintaining takes much less work than acquiring, if you cease all training you WILL slowly lose progress. So instead of working you to the bone for 3-6 months, we take the approach of finding a training routine that is sustainable, so that you can continue doing it for as long as possible. While the training still requires great intensity, the goal is not to make you feel exhausted or worn out, but rather to give you the minimum effective dose, to make the most of your time, while still achieving the desired adaptations.
Speaking of longevity, we also ensure we are training like a human first to ensure a solid foundation is created. This means strong, mobile joints that are resilient and capable of doing whatever it is you love to do. This isn’t always the most exciting training, but it is one of the reasons you hire a personal trainer instead of exercising on your own. Traditional training is often based on bodybuilding or powerlifting principles and the problem is, those are both sports. As someone who trained like a bodybuilder for years, I can attest that it will improve your body composition. Unfortunately, it will also make you stiff, injury prone, your joints will ache, and eventually you will completely plateau while having the movement capacity of an early 2000’s era robot. The good news is, I spent the last 5 years training with an entirely different approach and my body now feels great, moves well, and my body composition continues to improve (you CAN have it all).
By approaching training with consideration for the anatomy of the human body (our bodies are very complex and should be treated as such), we can prioritize our joints (again, they are the foundation for all movement, WHICH IS WHY THEY MUST BE PRIORITIZED), we can specifically train our connective tissue to be more resilient (which is where most injuries tend to occur), and we can stop training solely through patterns (as real life and sports are not confined to those same patterns). This approach will vastly improve the quality of your life and ensure you age gracefully while maintaining resiliency.
Lastly, my approach to personal training meets you where you are at, so whether you are just starting your journey, or you are a professional athlete looking to improve, this training is for you.
I am excited to continue living my dream as an independent personal trainer, now operating out of my own private studio gym in Hespeler/Cambridge.
